San Diego Has a Winter

The days have gotten darker this week. Here in San Diego, we are shocked to see our sunsets happen again at early bird dinnertime, and even so we are given the most lavish colors and perfect clarity on our winter evenings. With the darker days, come less bright times for those who are selling a home. It's the time of the year where buyers back off their house-hunting in favor of holiday past-times. "We will look again in the new year," they say on their way to collect their Trader Joe's candy cane-themed wares. 

This happens every year, but this year the slowdown and more value in the market seemed to come earlier. It was as welcome to sellers as  Christmas decor in Costco the second Halloween is over (or even sooner!) What we are experiencing as professional agents helping buyers look right now, is there is a tremendous opportunity for purchasing a home in North County San Diego. Buyers have been moaning for years about good opportunities and the truth is that there are some right now and they are not expected to last. Homes that have experienced some market time recently and are still listed may need to sell for various reasons and there is a unique moment in housing market history to make it happen. I think we will look back on this time as the "dip" and who wouldn't love a real estate time machine to go back to 2020 and pick up a home in that particular dip - I know I would! 

Looking in the new year means more competition with other buyers who collectively decided this is their time to make a move. I have seen homes that had price reductions in the pre-holiday slow down get snatched up with multiple offers just a few weeks later after a mass new year's resolution to get out there a buy a home. As experienced agents, we are thrilled to have negotiated some excellent deals on some beautiful homes for our clients recently.
